The Giallores are coming off a disappointing defeat at Fiorentina in their opening game of the season, as they failed to capitalise on a goal by Antonio Candreva.

However, they managed to hold off an early Roma attack and took the lead in the 17th minute when Bruno Soriano headed a free-kick into the net.

The move was completed by a clever finish from Romulo.

But the Italians struggled to hold onto the ball in the second half and it was Roma who found the back of the net in the 64th minute.

Roma were awarded a penalty when Giuseppe Rossi stepped up to challenge Gianluigi Buffon.

The penalty was awarded for a foul on Stefano Okaka, and Roma had a penalty taker and a man in a wheelchair in front of the goal.

With no goalkeeper and a lack of quality on the right flank, the visitors could not cope with the pace of the Gialls.

Roma tried to find the back for the equaliser in the 67th minute but the Giallo were unable to create many chances.

The home side will be hoping for a better performance from their centre-backs as they prepare for the second leg at the Allianz Arena.
